Courses
Does your work bring you into contact with people who are vulnerable to suicide? Do you wish to develop and/or update your skills in suicide prevention?
The Mental Health League (Ligue Santé Mentale) can offer you three different trainings, depending on what your professional responsibilities are in connection with suicide (e.g. those of a social worker or in a health care context, in the police, etc.). These trainings are intended to raise awareness of warning signs of suicide, to help you recognise when a person is feeling suicidal and to train you in how to respond.

Prevention of suicide and the National Mental Health Plan
Prevention of suicide is an element in the National Mental Health Plan (PNSM 2024-2028), which has been designed to follow on from the National Suicide Prevention Plan (2015-2019).
The National Mental Health Plan is based on the biopsychosocial model, which treats health as the outcome of biological, psychological and social factors. The main actions for which it provides are:
- improving wellbeing and mental health as an integral part of overall health,
- taking account of risk factors and preventing illness,
- improving support for people with mental health disorders, with particular focus on vulnerable people,
- developing the training of professionals and supporting research.
These measures are intended to prevent suicide and psychological suffering more effectively.
